When the week ends, you’re charged the full season price that was in effect when the trial began, with no refund.
One Sunday. Any seven-day window contains exactly one Sunday slate, so you’ll get that day’s early and late out-of-market games, plus replays for the rest of the week. It’s a way to test the picture quality, multiview, and whether your team’s games are actually in the package where you live — not a way to watch the season for free.
The sign-up window for Verizon’s “on us” offer ran through September 23 (Verizon noted the terms were subject to change). If you bought an eligible phone on Unlimited Ultimate or Unlimited Plus, or started a qualifying Fios or 5G Home plan in time, you still have until December 22 — or 60 days from Verizon’s redemption notice, whichever comes first — to claim it. People who got the notice and set it aside are the ones most likely to lose a free $480 season.
If they live with you, yes. The subscriber can add up to five other members of the same household to a Google family group, and each person signs in with their own Google account at no extra charge. It does not stretch to a son or daughter across the country — the sharing is designed for one household. The student plan is the exception: it can’t be shared with a family group at all.
No. Sites offering every Sunday game without a login aren’t licensed to show them, and many make their money from pop-ups, fake “update your player” downloads, and forms that harvest card numbers. The risk falls hardest on less tech-focused viewers, because the pages are built to look official. If a site asks you to install anything or enter card details to “verify your age,” close it.
Maybe not. Sunday Ticket only adds out-of-market Sunday afternoon games. Your local CBS and FOX games — plus Sunday Night Football on NBC — come in free with an indoor antenna. If you mainly follow the hometown team, an antenna gives you nearly every one of their games without any subscription.
Not in the way most people expect. YouTube describes its installment plans as eight non-cancelable payments, with the first charged at purchase. Choosing installments spreads the cost; it doesn’t let you walk away mid-season. That’s why the lump-sum trial — which you can cancel before day 7 — is the only genuinely no-risk way to try it.
Every Legitimate Way to Pay $0
Four routes cost nothing out of pocket. Each has a catch, and the catch is what decides whether it fits you.
Available to anyone who has never purchased Sunday Ticket through YouTube or YouTube TV. Select the one-time season payment at checkout — the trial doesn’t attach to installment plans. If you don’t cancel within seven days, you’re billed the season price that applied the day your trial started: $240 on the standalone YouTube channel for new users, or $240 as an add-on if you also pay for YouTube TV. Neither is refundable once charged.
Best use: start it on a Saturday or early Sunday so you can watch the full slate, then use the replays to decide during the week. Put a reminder on your phone for day 6 — not day 7 — so a time-zone gap doesn’t cost you the full season.
This was the only offer that covered an entire season free. The qualifying window ran from July 30 through September 23 for customers who bought an eligible 5G phone and activated or upgraded a line on Unlimited Ultimate or Unlimited Plus, or who started a new Fios 1, 2, or 5 Gig, 5G Home Ultimate, or Verizon Home Internet Lite Extra plan. Premium Frontier Fiber tiers were also included after Verizon’s Frontier merger.
If you did any of those in time, Verizon sends a redemption notice. You then have 60 days from that notice, and no later than December 22, to claim the season. Two details matter: the subscription starts on the day you redeem, not the first game — so redeem promptly — and Verizon’s deal auto-renews next year at the full standard retail price. Also, if you cancel or drop out of the qualifying plan within 180 days, Verizon can charge back the value.
When one person in the home subscribes, they can share Sunday Ticket with up to five other household members through a Google family group. Everyone uses their own Google account, their own recommendations, and their own devices. For a grandparent living with an adult child, or a couple where one partner already pays, this is the cleanest free route there is — nothing to redeem and nothing that expires in a week.
The subscriber sets it up from their Google account’s family settings, then invites each person by email. The invitee accepts on their own device and Sunday Ticket appears in their YouTube app. Student plans are excluded from sharing.
This isn’t Sunday Ticket, but for many households it answers the real question — “how do I watch football without paying every month?” A basic indoor antenna pulls in your local CBS, FOX, and NBC stations. That covers your home-market team’s Sunday games, the national late-afternoon game in most weeks, and Sunday Night Football. Sports bars and restaurants that hold a commercial Sunday Ticket license are the other no-subscription option for a specific out-of-market game.
Starting the Free Trial Without Getting Charged
Most surprise $240 charges come from two mistakes: picking installments (which skips the trial) and canceling a day too late.
- Use a web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer — not the iPhone or iPad YouTube app, where Apple’s in-app billing can change the price and options.
- Go to tv.youtube.com/learn/nflsundayticket and sign in with the Google account you’ll watch on.
- Choose the one-time season payment. If you only see installment choices, the trial isn’t being offered to your account.
- Confirm the checkout screen shows the free trial and the date your card will be charged. Take a screenshot.
- Set a phone reminder for day 6.
- To cancel, open your Google account’s Purchases & memberships page (also reachable from YouTube’s settings) and end the Sunday Ticket membership before the trial ends.
The most common reason is an earlier purchase — even a Sunday Ticket bundle you had through YouTube TV in a past season counts. Living in Puerto Rico or another U.S. territory also rules it out, and YouTube says the trial isn’t available everywhere. Some viewers also report different options on Apple devices than in a browser. If it doesn’t appear, don’t create a second Google account to get it — YouTube treats that as a terms violation.
When Free Isn’t an Option: The Cheapest Real Prices
If you’ve subscribed before or missed the Verizon window, these are the lowest confirmed prices for the same games that cost $480 at the default rate.
Enrolled students 18 and older verify through SheerID, usually in minutes. It must be paid up front, allows a single stream on one device, and can’t be shared. Adding NFL RedZone costs just $10 more — the cheapest RedZone pairing anywhere.
Verified through ID.me and open to both new and returning subscribers — the one big discount that helps people who paid full price last year. Teachers include professors and school administrators; the medical community includes nurses and practitioners. Available until January 10, and existing verified subscribers renew at $198.
Paying YouTube Premium members who are new to Sunday Ticket pay $204 through September 30. Buyers of a qualifying Madden NFL 27 edition by October 10 get a code from EA for $216. Existing Verizon mobile, home internet, or Frontier customers pay $234 with no plan change. My Best Buy Plus or Total members pay $234 (new or returning) at least through October 28. Xfinity internet or TV customers pay $240 (new or returning) through October 28 — and that one doesn’t auto-renew.
Sunday Ticket is sold as a full season with no partial-season refunds, which makes it a poor buy in mid-October at full price. Late in last season, YouTube cut prices sharply for the remaining weeks. There’s no guarantee that happens again, but if your interest is mainly the final stretch and the playoff race, checking back in December costs nothing.

Where “Free” Ends Up Costing Money
The trial is built to convert. If you forget, the season price posts to your card and can’t be refunded. Treat the cancellation reminder as part of signing up, not something to handle later.
Verizon’s free season is set to auto-renew at full retail price. Once your free season is active, open Purchases & memberships in your Google account and turn off auto-renewal. You keep access through the final regular-season Sunday either way.
Last season, betting apps tied Sunday Ticket discounts and trials to a first wager. Many of those pages are still ranking in search. The current sportsbook welcome offers we checked don’t include Sunday Ticket, and any deal that requires a bet isn’t free in the first place.
