There is no “Golf Channel app” you can subscribe to by itself, and the one streaming service many golf fans relied on stopped carrying it last November. Meanwhile the weekend rounds you care about often air on a different network entirely. This guide untangles who has the live channel, what each route costs, and which setup fits the way you actually watch tournament golf.
Key Answers Before You Pay for Anything
Golf coverage has become a puzzle of channels, owners and app logins. These nine answers cover the questions we see people get stuck on most.
No. Golf Channel is a pay-TV network with no stand-alone subscription, and it cannot be picked up with an antenna. You need a TV provider or a live-TV streaming service that carries it. The Golf Channel mobile app streams live coverage, but it asks you to sign in with a provider that already includes the channel.
Sling Blue at $45.99 plus the Sports Extra add-on at $11 comes to $56.99 a month. The catch is that Sling Blue carries NBC only in select markets and has no CBS or ESPN, so network golf on weekends may be missing. A cheap indoor antenna can cover your local NBC and CBS for free.
One that carries Golf Channel plus NBC, CBS and ESPN. YouTube TV’s Sports Plan ($64.99) includes all four, the main YouTube TV plan costs $82.99, Hulu + Live TV runs about $89.99, and DirecTV’s MySports package has been reported at $64.99 to $69.99 depending on the date. Confirm your own local channels by ZIP code before signing up.
We could not confirm that it is. Fubo lost all NBCUniversal channels on November 21, including Golf Channel, and a deal on June 10 restored several NBC-family channels. Golf Channel, which had moved to the spun-off company Versant, was not named in that announcement, and a September guide removed Fubo from its Golf Channel list. Check your ZIP code on Fubo’s channel lookup before paying.
Not the 24/7 channel. Peacock streams NBC’s tournament broadcasts and some live events, and Peacock Premium is currently $12.99 a month. You will not get daily shows like Golf Central or Golf Today live, and weekday Golf Channel windows are typically not on Peacock.
It is a separate product. GolfPass offers a free ad-supported app, a Video tier at about $49 a year, and GolfPass+ at $119 a year (a $99 promo for new subscribers runs through October 23). It has instruction, Golf Channel favorites like Big Break and Feherty, and archives. GolfPass+ annual also includes 12 months of ad-supported Peacock Premium, but none of it is the live Golf Channel feed.
Rights are divided. The Presidents Cup, for example, aired on Golf Channel Thursday and Friday and moved to NBC and Peacock for the weekend rounds. The PGA Championship has been listed on ESPN for early rounds and CBS for the finish. A service that has Golf Channel but not NBC, CBS or ESPN will leave gaps on the days that matter most.
On ESPN’s streaming service, which has been the home of PGA Tour Live since 2022. ESPN Select (the tier that replaced ESPN+) carries it, and the larger ESPN Unlimited tier has been reported at $29.99 a month. Hulu + Live TV bundles ESPN Select, and DirecTV has been reported to include an ESPN streaming tier. One review notes that YouTube TV’s Sports Plan carries the ESPN channels but not ESPN’s separate streaming tiers.
Carriage fights are common, and they tend to happen when contracts renew. Reporting at the time of the spin-off said Versant’s channels had distribution deals locked in through 2027, with most renewals due in 2028. That suggests a quiet stretch, but not a guarantee. Staying month to month rather than prepaying a year keeps your options open.
Every Realistic Way to Watch, and What Each One Gets You
Six routes show up in nearly every conversation about streaming golf. Four of them carry the live channel. Two are worth knowing about because they do not.
- Golf Channel comes with Sports Extra
- NBC and Fox in select markets only
- No ESPN on Blue; no CBS
- Smaller DVR than YouTube TV
- ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox locals
- ESPN family, FS1, USA, Golf Channel
- Unlimited cloud DVR
- No ESPN Unlimited access
- Everything in the Sports Plan
- News, entertainment and lifestyle channels
- Up to six household accounts
- Locals, ESPN and Golf Channel
- Hulu and Disney+ bundled
- Priciest route on this list
- NBC, CBS, Fox, ESPN and Golf Channel reported
- ESPN streaming tier included per reports
- No contract on the streaming genre packs
- NBC weekend tournament coverage on Peacock
- GolfPass lessons, Big Break, Feherty
- No live 24/7 Golf Channel feed
- Weekday Golf Channel windows usually absent
Our arithmetic from the monthly prices above, before taxes and promotions. Amber bars carry on-demand or NBC simulcast golf only; green and slate bars carry the live channel.
The chart makes one thing obvious: the live channel starts at about $57 a month and the gap to the next rung is small, so the real decision is not “cheap versus expensive” but “which networks do I need besides Golf Channel.” Sling’s price advantage evaporates if you then need to add ESPN, because the combined Orange and Blue route plus Sports Extra lands near the cost of YouTube TV’s Sports Plan, with fewer local channels and less DVR. When we compared the lineups, the Sports Plan came out as one of the most complete golf setups at or under $65, which is why it keeps landing near the top of golf-fan picks even though it is not the cheapest.
Why Golf Channel Disappeared From Fubo, and What the Spin-Off Changed
If you used to watch golf on Fubo and the channel simply vanished, you did not imagine it. Three separate events happened within a few months of each other.
Dates reflect Fubo’s public statement, trade press coverage and a September update to a Golf Channel streaming guide. Channel lineups vary by ZIP code and can change without notice.
The dispute started over the spin-off. NBCUniversal was moving Golf Channel, USA Network, CNBC, MS NOW, E!, Oxygen and Syfy into a new company, Versant, and Fubo said it offered to carry those channels for a year while NBCU wanted a multi-year commitment that would outlast NBCU’s ownership of them. Talks failed and NBCU’s channels went dark on Fubo on November 21. Disney’s takeover of majority ownership of Fubo, which put Fubo and Hulu + Live TV under a shared owner, is widely credited with helping the two sides settle on June 10. Fubo restored Bravo, NBC’s local stations, several regional sports networks and a few others, but the announcement did not name the Versant channels.
For a reader, the lesson is practical rather than corporate. First, a channel list on a review site can be out of date by months, and several guides still show Fubo as a Golf Channel option. Second, the owner of the channel is now a separate public company, so the negotiating table is different from the one NBC used. Third, when a service tells you a channel “is returning in phases,” the phase that matters is your ZIP code. Use the provider’s own channel lookup, enter your address, and screenshot the result before you subscribe or renew.
Fubo raised most plans by $15 a month in July after the NBCU deal, so anyone who stayed for golf may be paying more for less. If Golf Channel does not appear in your lineup, contact Fubo and ask whether it will be restored, then compare against the $56.99 Sling route and the $64.99 YouTube TV Sports Plan. Read the billing terms for how a mid-cycle cancellation is handled before you decide.
Side by Side: Which Service Carries Which Networks
Golf lives on four networks in the U.S., and tournament weekends often use more than one. This table shows what each route gets you beyond Golf Channel itself.
| Service | Monthly | Golf Channel | NBC and CBS | ESPN | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sling Blue + Sports Extra | $56.99 | Yes, via Extra | NBC in select markets; no CBS | No | Network golf may need an antenna |
| Sling Orange + Blue + Extra | ~$72β$76 | Yes, via Extra | NBC in select markets; no CBS | Yes | Costs about what YouTube TV Sports does |
| YouTube TV Sports Plan | $64.99 | Yes | Local NBC and CBS | Yes, channels | No ESPN streaming tier included |
| YouTube TV main plan | $82.99 | Yes | Local NBC and CBS | Yes, channels | Pays for channels golfers never watch |
| Hulu + Live TV | ~$89.99 | Yes, every package | Locals included | Yes, with ESPN Select | Highest monthly price here |
| DirecTV MySports | $64.99β$69.99 | Yes | NBC and CBS reported | Yes, with ESPN streaming reported | Price has moved; confirm at checkout |
| Fubo | Varies | Not confirmed | Locals by market | Yes | Raised most plans $15 in July |
NBC and CBS broadcast over the air in most U.S. markets, and a plain indoor antenna receives them at no monthly cost. That means a household that only needs the cable-only Golf Channel can take the $56.99 Sling route, let the antenna supply the weekend NBC and CBS rounds, and use Peacock for the occasional NBC streaming window. The limits are real: antenna reception depends on your distance from the transmitters, and a pure antenna has no DVR, no ESPN and no way to stream while traveling. If your reception is poor, the trick stops working and YouTube TV’s Sports Plan becomes the simpler answer.
Pages sometimes describe Peacock, GolfPass or the Golf Channel app as ways to “stream Golf Channel,” which technically they can be. But the live channel’s weekday programming, early-round windows and daily news shows are tied to a TV provider login. Before you buy anything, look for the words “live” and “24/7,” and check whether the product asks for a provider sign-in. If the answer is no, you are buying on-demand content, simulcasts or instruction, not the channel.

Your Situation, Answered Plainly
“How do I stream Golf Channel” sounds like one question. In practice it comes up in very different moments: a channel that has vanished, a tournament weekend that starts in two days, a budget that has no room for a surprise. These are the moments we see most, with the move that costs the least in each.
Work through the causes in order. On Sling, Golf Channel is not part of the base Blue or Orange plan; it arrives with the $11 Sports Extra add-on, and Sports Extra needs Blue or the combined Orange and Blue plan, so Orange alone will never show it. On Fubo, the channel was removed in the November dispute and had not been confirmed back as of the September updates we found. On DirecTV, it sits in specific packages such as MySports and the higher Signature tiers. On YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV it should be present on the full plans, and on YouTube TV’s Sports Plan as well.
If your plan should include it and does not, restart the app, search the guide for “Golf” rather than scrolling, and then contact the provider with your ZIP code. Ask directly whether Golf Channel is included in your tier, and get the answer in writing in chat or email.
This is the cheapest decision most golf fans never make. The Sling route costs $683.88 over twelve months, but four months from spring through the summer majors cost $227.96, a saving of $455.92. Streaming plans are month to month, so you can subscribe when the season you care about starts and cancel when it ends. The same logic applies to YouTube TV. The risk is that a new-subscriber promotion tends to apply only once, and a returning subscriber may see a different price, so check the checkout screen rather than assuming last year’s deal. Set a calendar reminder for the cancellation day so a seasonal plan does not roll into the autumn.
If the cable-only channel is not your priority, you may not need it. Weekend broadcasts on NBC and CBS come free over the air, and NBC’s coverage also streams on Peacock. That setup costs a one-time antenna plus, if you want the streaming window, $12.99 a month for Peacock Premium. What it will not give you is the weekday and early-round Golf Channel windows, the daily news shows or ESPN’s golf. For the Presidents Cup, for example, the Thursday and Friday rounds were on Golf Channel and would have been missed entirely. Decide whether those are rounds you care about before skipping the channel.
The multi-feed coverage golf fans associate with the PGA Tour is not on Golf Channel at all. It is on ESPN’s streaming service as PGA Tour Live, available through the ESPN Select tier, with the larger ESPN Unlimited tier reported at $29.99. Hulu + Live TV bundles ESPN Select, and DirecTV has been reported to include an ESPN tier. If you are choosing YouTube TV’s Sports Plan, remember that it carries ESPN’s channels but not the separate streaming tiers, so a feed-obsessed household will need to add ESPN’s service on top, which narrows the price advantage.
Live-TV streaming services generally tie local channels to a home area, and the Golf Channel mobile app asks you to sign in with a provider that includes the channel. That means your local NBC or CBS may not follow you to a second home, even though Golf Channel itself usually does. Read the service’s terms on home area, travel and simultaneous streams before you rely on it at a vacation property. We do not recommend using location-masking tools to work around rules, since those can violate a service’s terms; a better workaround is an over-the-air antenna at the second home.
Golf runs long and the last groups often finish well after the scheduled window. YouTube TV advertises unlimited cloud DVR, which matters for events that spill past the broadcast slot. Sling’s DVR allowance is smaller, so a full weekend of recorded golf can fill it faster than you expect. Also know that YouTube TV live streams tend to run slightly behind the broadcast, which matters if you follow scores on a phone while watching on the television. Silencing score alerts for the duration of a tournament round is a small habit that spares the spoiler.
Compare the all-in monthly cost, not the advertised base. Streaming plans of the kind above are priced per month with no equipment rental, but taxes and fees vary, and some services add regional or local fees in certain ZIP codes. Satellite and cable bills often carry extra fees on top of the base price. None of the services in this guide offers a standard senior discount that we could confirm; DirecTV in particular is reported not to offer an AARP rate. The practical savings come from choosing a smaller sports-focused package, watching seasonally, and dropping channels you never open. Keep an eye out for any bill increase notice, because streaming prices have been moving.
Golf Channel remains the primary home for LPGA events and carries DP World Tour and Korn Ferry Tour coverage and college golf, so it is the right choice if those are your tours. LIV Golf airs separately on Fox, FS1 and FS2, which is a different set of channels. Sling Blue includes FS1 and, in select markets, Fox, which makes the $56.99 route a decent combination for fans of both. YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV carry the Fox family too. If your tours are split across networks, list the channels you need before you compare prices.
Carriage disputes can strip a channel in the middle of a billing period, as Fubo subscribers found in November. If you prepaid, you may have to ask for a refund or credit. Month-to-month billing makes this far less painful, because you can simply leave. Before you buy any annual plan or an annual bundle, ask what happens if a channel you subscribed for is removed, and avoid committing for a full year to a service whose parent company is in an active negotiation. Versant’s distribution deals were reported to run through 2027, so the immediate risk looks lower, but month-to-month remains the safer default.
If what you miss is Big Break, Feherty or instruction, GolfPass is built for you and costs far less than live TV. The free app is ad-supported, the Video tier removes ads for about $49 a year, and GolfPass+ at $119 a year (promoted at $99 to new subscribers through October 23) adds tee-time credits and a year of ad-supported Peacock Premium. Because the Peacock offer excludes certain existing subscribers and does not come with the monthly plan, read the terms before counting on it. For a golfer who plays more than they watch, the tee-time credits may be the real value.
How to Read a Tournament Schedule So You Buy Only What You Need
The single most useful habit is to check which network has each round before you pick a plan, because the answer changes from event to event.
Golf Channel tends to own the early rounds. During The Players Championship, for example, Rounds 1 and 2 aired on Golf Channel from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern, with NBC and Peacock taking over later in the week. For the Presidents Cup at Medinah, Golf Channel carried the Thursday and Friday sessions and the early Saturday window, then handed the afternoon to NBC and Peacock, with NBC carrying Sunday singles. Around The Masters, one guide described Golf Channel as the hub for wall-to-wall coverage surrounding the tournament. The pattern is consistent: Golf Channel is where the week starts and where the daily analysis lives, while the broadcast networks take the weekend finish.
That pattern is why two kinds of viewers end up on opposite ends of the price scale. A fan who wants to watch the early rounds on a Thursday afternoon, follow Golf Central and see the full week needs the live channel, which means a TV provider. A fan who sits down on Saturday and Sunday for the leaders can get away with an antenna and, for streaming, Peacock for NBC’s windows. If you follow multiple tours, add the network that carries them: ESPN for PGA Tour Live and the PGA Championship’s early rounds, CBS for its late-round coverage, and Fox, FS1 and FS2 for LIV.
One more price point matters if you also follow news. YouTube TV’s Sports Plan carries Golf Channel at $64.99, and a Sports + News plan with national news networks has been priced at $71.99. If you want both, that is cheaper than moving to the $82.99 main plan, though you give up entertainment channels. Before you commit, look at the next three tournaments you plan to watch, write the network for each round, and match that list against the table above. It takes ten minutes and tells you more than any ranking of services.
Seven Checks Before You Subscribe
A few minutes of checking prevents most of the regret we see in this category.
Golf Channel, plus any of NBC, CBS, ESPN, Fox and FS1. The list decides the plan more than the price does. A missing network is the most common reason people end up paying twice.
Local channels and regional sports networks vary by market, and some services roll channels back in by region. Take a screenshot of the lineup that shows Golf Channel in your area.
Add the add-on, any regional fee and taxes. Sling’s $45.99 becomes $56.99 once Sports Extra is included, and a promotional price may expire after a few months.
DirecTV has offered a five-day trial and other services have offered short ones. Start it the day before a tournament round you care about so you can check picture quality, delay and the guide, then cancel before the trial ends if it does not suit you.
Check that the service has an app for your television or streaming stick and that your internet connection is steady. A wired connection to the main television avoids many buffering complaints.
Seasonal golf fans save the most when they actually cancel. Put the date in your phone calendar, and keep the confirmation email.
An antenna for NBC and CBS and a second month-to-month option mean one carriage dispute does not cost you a major.
Which Setup Fits Which Golf Fan
At $56.99 it is the cheapest legitimate route to Golf Channel. Add an indoor antenna for NBC and CBS and you cover most tournament weekends. Skip it if you need ESPN or reliable local channels without an antenna.
Golf Channel, local NBC and CBS, the ESPN channels and unlimited DVR for $64.99 a month. It is the best all-round value for most golf fans, as long as you do not need ESPN’s streaming tier for PGA Tour Live.
At $82.99 and about $89.99, these are cable replacements. They make sense only if your household also uses the news, entertainment and Disney-family content. Hulu + Live TV bundles ESPN Select, which covers PGA Tour Live.
A one-time antenna and, when you want a streaming window, Peacock Premium at $12.99 will cover NBC’s tournament broadcasts. You will miss the weekday Golf Channel windows and ESPN’s golf.
Free to start, about $49 a year for ad-free video, or $119 a year for GolfPass+ with tee-time credits and a year of ad-supported Peacock Premium for eligible new subscribers.
Until the channel is confirmed in your ZIP code, a Fubo subscription for golf is a gamble. If you are already a member, check your lineup before the next billing date and be ready to switch.
DirecTV’s MySports price has been reported anywhere from $64.99 to $69.99 depending on the source and date, and package contents are described differently across guides, so confirm both on the checkout page. Hulu + Live TV prices are listed as $88.99 to $99.99 in different places. We could not confirm whether Golf Channel has returned to Fubo in every market; the evidence we found points to it still being absent, but Fubo’s own channel lookup is the final word. The ESPN tier names and prices are as reported by third parties and may differ from ESPN’s current page, and the exact eligibility rules for the GolfPass Peacock offer are set in its terms.
How This Page Was Checked
We began with provider pages and official statements: YouTube TV’s own plan page for the main and Sports Plan prices, Fubo’s public statement about the NBCUniversal dispute, GolfPass’s offer terms for pricing and the Peacock benefit, and the Presidents Cup broadcast guides published by NBC Sports, Golf.com and Golf Digest. We then compared trade press reports on the Versant spin-off and the June settlement, and cross-read several streaming guides to see where they disagreed.
Where sources differed, usually on DirecTV and Hulu pricing, we used a range and said so. The twelve-month costs, the seasonal savings and the price gaps on this page are our own arithmetic from the published monthly prices, and any reader can reproduce them with a calculator. Streaming prices and channel lineups change quickly; if you spot a figure that has moved since this page was reviewed, trust the provider’s own page over ours.
Prices and channel lineups reflect published or reported U.S. rates as of the date this page was last reviewed, before taxes and fees, and may vary by ZIP code, device and promotion.
